MIZUKI RESTAURANT | WHERE JAPANESE CUISINE IS ART

As a food photographer, there are times when I find myself in the midst of an awe-inspiring shoot and feel the need to pinch myself to ensure I'm not dreaming. My most recent experience of food-photography-euphoria was at Mizuki Restaurant in Irvine, California. Open since March 2010, Mizuki specializes in Japanese Cuisine & Sushi. I had heard wonderful things about the food, but hadn't been there myself until I arrived on-site for the shoot as their menu photographer -- and all I can say is that nothing could have prepared me for the  culinary artistry that was about to roll out of the Mizuki kitchen & onto the table for me to capture with my lens. 

Mizuki specializes in Sushi and so much more.  Their recently-revamped menu covers everything from gorgeous soups, salads and dinner entree to beautiful desserts and almost every kind of sushi, nigiri & sashimi imaginable. All of this, combined with their fully-stocked bar - complete with a vast array of warm & cold sake - is well worth the trip. (And, with the newly-redone Park Place parking lot, I'm happy to report that getting there & finding good parking is easier than ever too.)

So, feast your eyes below on a small taste-through-photos of the Mizuki menu, and next time you're in the mood for delicious Japanese cuisine, be sure to pay them a visit.
